Justin has spent more than 30 years in the world of motorsports. His journey began with motocross racing in the mid-90s, and since then, he has taken on various roles at local tracks, including flagging, tech inspection, scoring, announcing, and race directing. In 2017, he ventured into independent journalism with Speedway Media and Kickin\u2019 the Tires<\/a>, covering NASCAR, Supercross, Trans-Am, and NHRA. His work has earned him two awards from the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA).
\n 
\nOutside of writing and racing, Justin works full-time for an internet marketing agency and runs a website design company for local businesses and non-profits. He also trains high school and college motorsports athletes in media relations, interview preparation, sponsorship management, and fan engagement.
\n 
\nCurrently, Justin serves as Secretary-Treasurer for the NMPA, having previously held the position of Communications Officer. He primarily covers NASCAR through Motorsports Reference, sharing his passion and expertise with fans.
\n 
\nWith a rich background in motorsports and a commitment to nurturing new talent, Justin is a valuable asset to the racing community. He lives in the DFW Metro area just south of Texas Motor Speedway with his wife Rachel, an award-winning NASCAR photographer. A dedicated sports enthusiast, Justin cheers for the Dallas Stars while playfully booing the Dallas Cowboys.\u00a0

\n1. How did you develop a passion for cars and\/or motorsports?<\/strong>
\nI grew up racing motocross in 1994. Many family members on my father’s side raced in all forms of motorsports, including motocross, offroad trucks and modifieds. They competed in the Baja 1000 and one family member is in the AMA Hall of Fame. I was a part of many other disciplines growing up, with ATV, karting and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2. What advice do you have for people who want to break into the motorsports and auto industry?<\/strong>
\nGet to the local tracks. Most of you know that a race is a lot better experience in person than on TV, but at the local tracks, you get more flexibility to walk through the pits and see the teams working on their cars between classes.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. If you could drive any car, what would it be and why?<\/strong>
\nFor a more recent car, it would be a C6 Chevrolet Corvette. For a classic, either a 1951 Side Step or a 1974 Pontiac Firebird.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. If you could attend any car\/motorsports event in the world, which would you choose? Why?<\/strong>
\nI would love to go to a Bathurst 1000 race in person one day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

5. What’s the most exciting car event\/race you’ve ever attended?<\/strong>
\nThe Daytona 500 really is the Super Bowl of NASCAR..<\/span><\/p>\n
